J. Parker Valentine
Based on and acting as a continuation of the eponymous solo show at KRIEG (14.2 – 2.4.2019), Special Interests is as much an artist book as it is a monograph.
Documentation of works from the last five years is juxtaposed with that of the new work produced for KRIEG, alongside the artist’s photographs of cut-out remnants from the latter’s process and a text by Lilou Vidal. With all elements equally interspersed among the book’s pages and commenting each other, they show to illustrate the unique practice of J. Parker Valentine — drawing that expands into a sculptural and environmental narrative beyond the autonomous object and its material-immanent conditions.
